been extended in three stages.
Objectives: a)
Rationalize flow in
first floor plan b) Provide less formal subdivisons between
living spaces c) Capitalize on natural daylight and garden views.
Strategy a)
Enclose the existing breezeway porch b) Reposition centrally
located WC/Utility Room toexterior wall. c) Mainntain existing
staircase to enable owner to reside during cconstruction.
Concept:
A
series of "interstitial" living spaces composed around
a central block of storage and service elements.
Solution:
A "Central Block" enabling air
and light to flow from one space to another thereby enabbling
each space to be used for a variety of functions throughout
the day.
A series of sliding partition panels enable
the Central Block to be read as a freestanding element connecting
Kitchen, Study and Living spaces.
